A New Scout Troop at Kilcully

58th South Parish Investiture

The inaugural investiture ceremony of the 58th Cork (South Parish) Scout Troop was held at Kilcully in 1981.

The photograph captures the Scouts taking part in the traditional investiture ceremony, during which new members formally make their Scout Promise and become members of the Scout Movement.

Presided over by Fr Michael Kidney S.M.A., the occasion brought a large gathering to Kilcully and is a reminder that the campsite was used not only for major competitions and camps, but also for important milestones in the life of individual Scout troops.
