Munster Patrol Leaders Camp

PL Camp

Kilcully continued to develop as a centre for Scout training and activities during the early 1970s. In 1973, the campsite hosted a Munster Patrol Leaders Camp, bringing together young Scout leaders and Scouters from across the region.

During the camp, Cork City Scout officers were invited to Kilcully for this group photograph, which was taken during Walter McGrath’s final year as Diocesan Commissioner.

The photograph provides a wonderful record of the people involved in Cork Scouting at the time and shows how quickly Kilcully had become established as a gathering place for Scouting, just three years after the property was acquired.
