Taoiseach Jack Lynch Visits Kilcully

Taoisch in wellies

Later in 1971, Kilcully welcomed Taoiseach Jack Lynch on an official visit to the newly established campsite.

During his visit, the Taoiseach toured the grounds and met Scouts and leaders. This wonderfully informal photograph captures him walking through Kilcully in Wellington boots, with Scouts lining the route.

Coming in the same year as Kilcully’s official opening, the visit was a memorable moment in the campsite’s early history and reflected the enthusiasm surrounding the development of this new centre for Scouting in Cork.
