A Facelift for Kilcully

Preparing Kilcully for the Years Ahead

Early in 1980, considerable work was underway to improve Kilcully and prepare the campsite for another busy camping season.

A contemporary newspaper report described Kilcully as receiving a major “facelift”. The entire interior of Kilcully House had been repainted, the car park was resurfaced and a number of other improvements were in progress.

Behind all of this work was the continuing challenge of raising the money needed to develop and maintain the campsite. Cork Scout groups, leaders, friends and supporters were being encouraged to get involved in fundraising to support Kilcully and its future development.

The improvements came during a particularly busy year for Scouting in Cork and helped prepare Kilcully for the many Scouts and visitors who would use the campsite during 1980
