40 Years of Scouting Service

Kilcully was the setting for a special gathering in 1976 marking 40 years of service to Scouting by John K. Hurley of the 4th Cork Scout Troop.
The occasion brought together Scouts, leaders and friends to recognise four decades of dedication to the movement. Twenty years later, in 1996, his remarkable record of service received international recognition.
Events such as this illustrate another important part of Kilcully’s story — as a place where generations of Cork Scouts came together not only to camp and compete, but also to celebrate the people who had given many years of service to Scouting.
