Diocesan Camping Seminar held in Kilcully

On 10 May 1974, Kilcully hosted a Diocesan Camping Seminar, bringing members of Cork Scouting together to develop and share their knowledge of camping and outdoor Scouting.

Training and the passing on of practical skills have always been an important part of Scouting. With Kilcully still a relatively new campsite, events such as this helped establish it not only as a place to camp, but as a centre where Scouts and leaders could learn, exchange ideas and prepare for future camps and activities.

The seminar was another step in Kilcully’s development as a permanent home for outdoor Scouting in Cork.
